History of N.E.S.T.
This not so new organization initially known as Faithful Sisters in Christ Ministry, was a small group of women that initially began as an outreach ministry in 2005. The women were from the areas of Germantown, Mt. Airy and West Oak Lane communities. They would hold monthly meeting for prayer, sharing life stories and fundraising ideas. Additionally, they donated toiletries, clothes, coats and food to various women shelters. They annually contributed Thanksgiving Baskets and a Christmas. toys, clothing and gift cards to the needy.
In May of 2012 the ministry made a decision to convert into a non profit organization. Inspired by personal tragedies we aspired to develop a community outreach program. We felt it is required of us and necessary due to the unwarranted violence in our city we have to do more. Our aspirations to convert to a formal organization would give us the ability to assist with the issues of violence and poverty in our communities. Also, providing information and resources on, health, grieve counseling, education and finances would set the foundation for a more positive future.
